equips each attendee with a mental survival kit. It uses confidence building
exercises, practical workshops and advice:
Planning
your journey:
Covers how to research and book tickets, visas, foreign currency, insurance,
where to stay, cultural taboos, working overseas, money matters and where
to find useful gear (and what is useless).
Health, Safety and Security:
Advice on avoiding illness, accident, theft, robberies, assault or kidnapping.
Includes a workshop on the basics of first aid. With a special and separate
session for woman travellers.
Travelling light:
How not to cripple your back with by taking that patent cast-iron cooking
pot recommended by a Sunday supplement. And how to leave the smallest
ecological footprint.
Includes:
- A
full day of workshops and practical demonstrations.
- Refreshments
and a light lunch
- At
the end of the day, there will be a chance to browse our library of
travel guides and handbooks plus quiz us with any particular questions
that have come up.
- A
handbook packed full of tips and links to further information
- Held
in Leeds City Centre (five minutes from the main bus and rail stations).
The cost of the one-day programme is £145.
Extra
workshops or tutorials on safety can be arranged with our staff and with
self-defence instructors. Prices vary according to personal requirements.
