Science Dome is designed to explore science, geology and geography in an interactive way. The Science Dome visits schools and clubs, providing an additional science resource and presenting a different learning experience to children.

We provide a fully digital mobile planetarium and natural history shows (rocks/ fossils and dinosaurs) to schools, colleges, youth clubs, scouts groups and playgroups. The service is provided in a blacked-out purpose built mobile domes which can be sited indoors using a school hall. Our domes are the most advanced digital domes in the country capable of showing 360 degree pictures and feature films.

We cover the whole of the UK and are the biggest portable pop-up planetarium and science dome business in the country.



The Science Dome operates eleven mobile digital domes from our bases in Bournemouth, Poole, London, Staines, St Albans, Leeds, Tyneside, Frome (Somerset), Glastonbury, Warrington and Beverley in Yorks; covering the whole of the UK and EIRE. Click for Dome Dimensions

Our domes can cater for a large event up to 60 people with special multimedia equipment and lens to provide a spectacular show for entertainment and education. All our mobile domes are fully digital capable of showing full dome films and an interactive solar system across the dome.


A historic WW1 film 'Trench' comes to the Science Dome.  
Full Dome film Trench is the spectacular, 360 degree dome planetarium show that takes viewers on a tour of the daily life of a solider in WW1-- for audiences Year 4 and up. Click http://schoolworkshops.company

Evolution and Inheritance Programme from the Science Dome includes subjects such as natural selection, adaptation and Darwin.

The shows consist of using the dome, with some outside interaction if time permits. The topics listed above can be mixed during the day, with different shows in the afternoon perhaps. Not all topics available at each location- please ask.

Programmes can be partial constructed by the school in advance of visit to reflect current classroom subjects.

All these shows will help in the Creative Curriculum assisting topic based learning using our 360 degree screen and all surround computer films and art work.

A full day visit costing in the range of £490 (excluding VAT) with a typical day including up to five class shows.

We may charge extra for a sixth show during the day. If your school is located near one of our dome bases (see below), then we may be able to come for a half day. Please apply for half day rates.

Dorset and Hampshire -- the charge is around £435 per day (excluding VAT) with lower special rates for Bournemouth and Poole schools. Please apply for special rates.

Please be aware that we charge a travel and hotel supplement, if we are required to travel a distance from a base.

Full Dome Theatre Films

We are excited to be able to add to our programme full-surround theatre films using our new 360-degree projection system from the USA. These films wrap around and over the viewer on the whole surface of the dome, and are the type of films presented in fixed planetariums in science centres, but we will bring them to your school!

‘The Zula Patrol Under The Weather’  - This cartoon show is suitable for up to year 4.

‘The Zula Patrol: Down to Earth ’  - This cartoon show is suitable for up to year 6. Looking after the Earth and Earth Science with volcanoes, dinosaurs, underwater ancient life – all in full dome 360 degree picture from the award winning Zula Patrol series

‘Oasis in Space’ - liquid water - a key ingredient for life on Earth. Suitable from year 5 to adult.

'Black Holes-The Other Side of Infinity'.  Suitable from year 5 to adult.

'Astronomyths'-- From White Tower Productions in Greece. Stories in the Sky. Suitable from year 3 to adult.

'NanoCam Show' (Biodiversity at Micro-level) - KS2/3. From Elexilio Productions, supporting the UN Biodiversity programme.  

Kaluoka'hina: the Enchanted Reef-- Suitable for Year1 and upwards

The vastness of our planet's oceans guards unimaginable secrets. One of its most precious is "Kaluoka'hina", the enchanted reef. Suitable for all ages for a tour under the sea and trips to tropical reefs.

Birthday Parties

Our 'Party' service is an exciting alternative for your celebration! We can provide a wide range of different events from 'Wii' game parties (or XBox360 Kinect) for the teenager to 'Star' or ''Dinosaur' themed parties for the younger child.

Parties can be run anytime during the year after school or at weekends (except Sunday morning)

Wii games can be booked for a party during the half term holidays or just for a SPACE day.

Current rates for 2015 onwards --Party hire £190 to £275 (including VAT) depending on location.



Festival Domes start up again in the Science Dome for the summer period. Many of our festival domes can be seen at summer events such as family music festival (Underneath The Stars Festival 2016- Sheffield). Shows feature star shows, planetarium and 'Fractals'
