Help with Crashing, Freezing and Slowing Down

There's nothing more annoying than your computer freezing up, crashing or slowing to a crawl when you are right in the middle of doing something important.

Sometimes this might be caused by one of the physical parts (the hardware) starting to fail, although most often it is caused by viruses, spyware or corrupted programs (the software.) Often this can be fixed with a simple health check.
