This site should give you all an idea of
how we are getting on with the house and what exciting things
we've been up to. We'll put new pictures on from time to time so stop by
once in a while!
We're both still here in sunny Norwich. I'm working at the
John Innes centre and Alexi is working at
the
The Sainsbury Laboratory. They are
both on the Norwich Research Park which is only 10 minutes away from our
house. Alexi is working on plant disease resistance, whilst i'm studying
E. coli's tolerance to nitric oxide.
Norwich is a fine city (at least that's
what it says on the signpost), with a classic
Norman keep (castle, built in the 12th
century) and a beautiful
cathedral (started in AD 1096). We live a
15 minute walk from the castle / city centre in an area known as the Golden
Triangle. Its full of nice little shops, pubs and Victorian houses like
ours. It's only a 10 minute drive to the countryside, and
Southwold
(where i'm from) is only 35 miles away so we can recharge the batteries once
in a while.
We've been working hard on the house and
garden lately, and its all starting to look pretty good. We've already had a
few BBQs and have been enjoying the garden a lot (apart from ripping ivy
away and stuff like that). We've even got a little pond with tadpoles in it
- the theory being that frogs like the slugs that like our hostas so much!
Hopefully all this talk of fine
historical cities and pubs will persuade some of you to visit us - so drop
us a line!
We've just got back from a very welcome
holiday in Cornwall - look out for the pictures soon! Also,
Nick's CV is up on the site somewhere - so
if you're a Nobel prize winning biochemist have a peek!
Cheers,
Alexi and Nick.
