I heard someone saying during the event that the Gardners have a reputation for "fiendish" in their events. I hope we have kept up the reputation by exercising your (probably rather cold) brain cells on Boxing Day. As those who attended will know, the idea was to collect numbers from controls and then form a sum whose answer was the Millenium year 2000. You scored however many numbers you managed to use in the sum. The juniors had the alternative of just picking up the highest numbers they could find.
The morning was fine in defiance of the weather forecast. I won't forget the expression of consternation on the face of one of the "normal" Milton Country Park visitors as you all suddenly rushed off in different directions from the start.
Thanks to all the Gardner family, young and old, who were all drafted into various preparation tasks. Thanks to all who came and I hope you enjoyed the even - pace counting calculations will be easy now after this!
