Organiser's comments

First and foremost I would like to thank all the helpers particularly those who offered to help on the day. I have to admit that I was rather concerned that we wouldn't have sufficient numbers of people to help prior to the event so I think it is fortunate that we did get a few additional helpers. I hope everyone enjoyed the day. The weather was a little breezy but we managed to avoid heavy rain. Therfield Heath is an interesting area with many contours and obviously people enjoy the area, as evidenced by the numbers that turned up on the day.

Planner's comments

This was my first attempt at planning and I was therefore fortunate to be able to work with a newly redrawn map of the area. This mean't that there were no map corrections other than the need to show the golf course. Planning is made rather more difficult by the presence of the golf course - in this event it was necessary to make sure that the simplest courses kept well away from this area to ensure that no competitors strayed on to the fairways and greens. I hope that all who took part enjoyed their courses, and that the experienced orienteers who tried the map memory courses found them to be a suitable replacement for the more technical colour coded courses. Finally, my thanks go to Sheila who had to tolerate the time and space and also to Anne who was controller for this event, as her helpful comments and suggestions kept me on target and improved the final courses.
