Organiser's Comments

This was my first attempt at organising an event for my new club WAOC.

It served as a good introduction to a small group who helped before the event and/or who turned up on the night and willingly applied their experience to whatever task came to hand. Thanks to you all.

Tim Mulcahy provided plenty of encouragement during the run up to the event and on the night. So thanks to him as organiser's organiser!

I have been pleasantly surprised at the number of good areas there are in East Anglia to run in and we should thank Forest Enterprises for giving us access to this one.

I get the impression that everyone enjoyed the event - because all the finishers said so - which was rewarding. May you always run in moonlit forests!

Planner's Comments

My thanks go to Tim Mulcahy and the rest of the WAOC committee for giving me the opportunity to apply my long experience of competing to the art of planning. This was the first colour coded event of any type that I had planned. Fortunately I was backed up a superb controller - thanks Clarissa.

The area is particularly good for a night event, given the general lack of heavy undergrowth, even in the light green forest. As you would have seen if you ventured in there. Contour features were used to the full extent available on the longer courses to provide technical navigation problems. However, on the night, the moon proved so bright that even small clearings could have been used to locate off. I would have preferred the chocolate course to have been longer but I did not want the added complication of a map exchange. I hope you found the overprinted maps useful. Maybe we can start a trend in smaller events now that fast computers and printers are more readily available to reproduce the maps.

Controller's Comments

This was an enjoyable event to control. Not a lot of work, a very pleasant forest, and good weather thrown in. I liked Ian's courses, particularly the balance in the route choice legs and the way he used the variety in the forest and resisted the temptation to add length for the sake of it.

The organisation worked well as a team both before and during the event so everything ran smoothly.

I hope you all enjoyed your runs.
