Organiser's Comments

We had yet another lovely day for a SMILE event.  Thank you to the Smith family for careful planning and very efficient organisation and thank you, Ian, for finding such a lovely bit of Fairlands Valley for the courses and the picnic.  Thank you also to Neil Humphries who completed the mapping that had been started by Hally Hardie.

The SMILE League Cup competition was contested by a handful of very determined youngsters and we had some seriously fast times on all the courses.  Score course contestants had to contend with a map on which E and W had been transposed.

Helen Gardner, recently returned from representing Great Britain in the Junior World Orienteering Championships in Estonia, won the Score course and then changed into her GB kit to present some of the medals, including a virtual gold medal to Simon, second on the Score today but first in the Score League.  Simon then took over and presented the rest of the medals and awards.

Congratulations to King's College School who took Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in both the White and Yellow Leagues.  Special awards went to Miriam Norris (KCS/WAOC), Thomas Hemingway (WAOC) and Catherine Gresham (Ind).

We hope to see you next year.

Lost property:  A white tee shirt, described as size 7/8 though it looks more like a 4/5 to me.
