Hinchingbrooke Park, Huntingdon

Summer Galoppen Event - 29th August 2001

Results

Whether it was due to orienteering starvation throughout the year, or whether it was due to putting on only 'straight' O courses, I don't know, but we had a total of 22 competing bodies reflecting 31 people when you take family groups into account. It might have been due to the very mild weather, of course. Or it may have been the realisation that the 2001 Galoppen series was coming to a close. However, it was good to see so many of you enjoying the evening in what is quite a nice country park for this part of the world. Perhaps those wishing to make their points felt about how the Galoppen series should be run would like to email me with their suggestions; mailto:Hally40@aol.com

I'm hoping the next time we come to use Hinchingbrooke that the competition area will be some 50% larger. I'm presently in the process of mapping Hinchingbrooke School, which uses the grounds of the old Hinchingbrooke Hall. There are some very interesting features in this area and it will substantially increase the usefulness of the whole patch. Watch out for it.

It is interesting to note that only one person decided to run incognito. This couldn't be anything to do with the Chairman's time out on the course could it?
