Organisers Comments

This event was run by West Anglian Orienteering Club in collaboration with Dry Drayton Feast Week and was well supported by WAOC members, although there was a disappointing response from Dry Drayton villagers. I hope that those who did come along to try the orienteering enjoyed the event in spite of the unsettled weather. There were a few short sharp showers and several rumbles of thunder which may well have put some people off. However it brightened up and we were later rewarded with the sight of a magnificent rainbow.

In the Very Short Course Claire Cole, Daniel & John did amazingly well and even took a whole half minute off their time in their second run. Neil and Theodore Harris and Liz & Daisy Manson & Anne Mitchell tackled the longer Medium Course and put in some good times in comparison with the more experienced WAOC runners. Well done all of you!

There was some serious competition in the long course but Rolf Crook finished well clear at the top with an excellent run. John Sutcliffe's time was also very respectable but it was not to be a successful evening for him. He mispunched at the very first control (101 path junction instead of 102 stile) then lost his pen so he could not write down the numbers of the thirteen lamp posts which were being used as controls over in Bar Hill. Sorry John, but I really did have to disqualify you!

Many thanks to all those WAOC members who helped out on the night with all the various tasks, and especial thanks to everyone who came along and took part to make it all worthwhile. I hope that everyone including John enjoyed themselves.
