Organisers Comments

With the good weather and large turnout the event was very satisfying for me and I believe from the comments I received that the competitors enjoyed it too.

As Milton Country Park is quite small I thought a "double score" event would give you all a good run and stretch at least most of you to keep within the 45 minute time limit. The format seems to have worked as many of you returned in quite a sweat!

The Park is mainly a network of footpaths circumnavigating the two main lakes. The undergrowth fluctuates considerably during the seasons and in the summer the nettles are man-eating in places. Going straight through the thickets is not usually a good ploy at the Park. Control 4 (ZQ Large Embankment - S Side) on Part 1 caught out a few runners who failed to locate the control under the canopy a few metres from the nearby track junction. I apologise for the map error of the absent Fishing Platform near control 14 that misled a few of you counting platforms from the north - those approaching from the south had no such problem. When I received the printed maps I was forced to make some last minute changes since all the fishing platforms had mysteriously vanished, leaving only the lead-in footpaths - apart from the one mentioned.

May I please thank all of those who took part and especially Rolf who invited me to organise the event in the first place. Thanks also to Ursula Oxburgh who kindly printed the maps at very short notice.
