STRIPY TALES By Neil Duffield Previously performed by: Octagon Theatre, Bolton For 4 - 8 year olds CAST
SIZE 5 What the press say about it: "Children's Theatre is
almost always a poor relation, so three cheers for the Octagon for taking
the risk in commissioning this new play for four to eight year olds from
writer Neil Duffield. A blend of stories and folk tales from all over the
world, the play goes deep into the heart of the forest where tiger,
parrot, and Dry Bones the magician, are all trying to outwit eachother." "Neil Duffield weaves
myth and nature together, capturing the essence of the jungle with its
scamperings and cruelty as well as making harmless and enjoyable
entertainment for young children. There are plenty of songs, and the
colourful and exotic wildlife makes it an appealing alternative to more
traditional Christmas fare." "...aimed at four to
eight year olds - and those of us grown-ups who still have a little of the
eight year old in us. Script writer Neil Duffield has taken traditional
stories from around the world and as story teller Maggie Tagney explains
at the beginning of the play, they've become a jumbled up jungly sort of
story where the audience are led into a forest of strange sights and
sounds.....A wonderful alternative to panto."
