Dinomart, the Key Stage One guide to money, how it works and how to use it. Is a Browser based CAL (Computer Aided Learning) device targeted at Key Stage 1 level children in the National Curriculum aged between 5-7 years. Dinomart supports Problem Solving Section 1a, teaching children about money and the ways in which it can be used. It also supports areas of Key Stage one ITC learning as the National Curriculum, and follow language and vocabulary taught in Unit 2a, b and c as not to confuse the children. Dinomart has a fundamentally educational purpose as support and assistance in introducing the children to money. The Children learn about different coins, how to make certain amounts of money from a set of coins, spending money and receiving change. They can then participate in a selection of activities where they can save up a certain amount in their piggy banks, spend their money in the shop, and work out how much change they have left after buying certain items in Dino Daves shop. The money can be moved around to make transactions using the mouse, helping on one of the fundamentals in Key Stage 1 ITC. The activities are divided into a series of levels, so that you can select the usage of coins suitable for a particular age group, enabling Dinomart to cover Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3. |
