Tonkinese BC Home

Tonkinfo is only issued twice a year but there is often news that we'd like to know as soon as it happens - so this page may include official or personal news (new lines, new studs, special show results, new prefixes, special events etc.). You are invited to send your news or items of interest to Linda Vousden (see TBC contacts), or e-mail them to   tbc.uk@ntlworld.com Received news will be posted the same week and TBC members with an e-mail address will be notified when changes are posted. If you'd like to be included in the notification list just e-mail Linda to let her know. Items, which may be deemed to cause offence or distress to others, will not be included.

Happy Bank Holiday!

  •  Tonkinese Calendar 2009 - Val has had a good selection of photos submitted this year and is now putting her annual Tonkinese Calendar together for 2009. She is taking advance orders so if you'd like to order a calendar before they sell out at the TBC show in October, send a cheque for £9.95p plus p&p of  £1.20p (payable to Mrs V Chapple) to Springshill, 67 Petworth Road, Haselmere, Surrey GU27 3AX. Or reserve one to collect at the show by sending her £9.95p.

  • Don't Forget - to look at the Items For Sale Page on this web site.

Weekending Sunday 17th August 2008

  • Tonkinfo  -  The Autumn issue is due out in September – but not a soul has sent anything to Paul for it yet!  Surely someone has some news, information or tid-bit they want to share?  For your convenience we’ve even included a blank Tonkinfo page that you can download (see the Tonkinfo page of this web site), type in your item and e-mail directly to Paul.

  •  Tonkinese Stud List - I’m trying to find the time to update the TBC’s Stud List. If you are running a stud, or did have a stud that you have now neutered, please let me (Linda) know.  You’ll see the sort of information I need if you look at the Stud List page of this web site.

  • National CC or GCCF Supreme Show? - Did you know that it is NOT against the GCCF rules to state, on the Internet or elsewhere, that you are showing your cat at a particular GCCF show?  A GCCF edict was made a couple of years ago to protect judges from being made aware, before the show, that certain cats might be shown under them. Unfortunately, a few mean-minded individuals abused the situation to try to discredit their ‘competition’ – so the edict has been dropped.  Naturally you don’t want to go overboard about it – but you can still chat with your friends over the Internet about showing your cats J  If you haven't got your schedule but want to see who is judging the Tonks at the Supreme this year check out my Tonk Judges List.

  • For those of you who still haven’t heard about it – there was an unfortunate shifting of show dates for this year that has resulted in the GCCF Supreme show and the National Cat Club show being just one week apart!  What’s more, the National has finally had to change its venue after more than 100 years of holding the show in London; it will be at the Bracknell Sports Centre – the same venue as the Tonkinese shows are held.  Entries for the National should be posted early this year, as space will be limited!

Weekending Sunday 10th August 2008

The Tonkinese Breed Club 6th Championship Show Schedule is now available. Those of you who brought your cat/s to the 2007 show will automatically receive a schedule in the post.  Those of you who didn’t show last year but want to this year can either print-off a copy of the Schedule and Entry Form from this web site, or send an A5 sized SAE to Kathy Wilkinson (Assistant Show Manager), her address is on the ‘Show page’ of this web site.

Weekending Sunday 18th May 2008

The spring issue of Tonkinfo has been issued, if you didn't get your copy and you are sure that you are a paid-up member then contact Linda Vousden as soon as possible. To help us in our aim to have the Solid and Pointed Tonks gain equal recognition with the 'minks' please sign the slip on the back of the magazine!

Weekending Sunday 11th May 2008

The Seminar was highly satisfactory with a good attendance and beautifully behaved cats. A report will be found in the Spring issue of Tonkinfo - unfortunately it missed going into Our Cats because of the troubles the magazine is having and its change of ownership.

Weekending Sunday 20th April 2008

Liz Case (Tarjjika) was the only Tonkinese exhibitor at the Bletchley TICA show on Saturday - it's a good thing she was there. Animal Planet were filming for an up-coming program called 'Trophy Cats', they deliberately tracked Liz down for an interview about the Tonks! We don't know when its going to be aired - so keep an eye open and let us know if you find out please.

Weekending Sunday 13th April 2008
