GUIDE TO THE GCCF TONKINESE REGISTRATION POLICY

This is an unavoidably complicated policy. As one of the team that wrote it, I offer this flow chart as a step-by-step guide to help you understand it.

You must follow all of the steps in the correct numerical sequence. In each case 'cat' refers to the kitten or cat that you are about to register. 

This guide is relevant to the current Tonkinese Registration Policy  (22nd February 2006).

 

     FIRST-CROSS mating =  a Burmese on the Full Register mated with a Siamese on the Full Register

     BACK-CROSS mating =  a Tonkinese or a Tonkinese-Variant mated with either a Burmese on the Full Register or a Siamese on the Full Register

 

Is either of the following true for your cat?

It has, in its preceding 5 generations any cat :- 

a) that is not registered or

b) is of unknown parentage or

c) is not permitted in the pedigree of Tonkinese cats (incl. a Burmese or Siamese that is not on the full register).

>YES

 This cat will be registered as :-   No Recognised Breed

It was born after 2006 from a mating of a Tonkinese (incl. Variants) with any other breed (including Burmese or Siamese).

Is either of the following true for your cat?

It was born after  1998  from a first-cross mating

 

It was born in 1997-2006 (inclusive) from a back-cross mating.

This cat will be registered as a TONKINESE on the

Reference Register. (CSREF).

This cat will be registered as a TONKINESE on the

Reference Register. (CSREF).

It cannot be shown.

It has a Parent or Grandparent that was born after 1998 from a first-cross mating or in 1997-2006 (inclusive) from a back-cross mating.

>YES

 

NO

 

 

Is the following true for your cat?

 

This cat will be registered as a TONKINESE VARIANT on the Reference Register (CSREF).

It cannot be shown.

It may be bred from.

It has a Tonkinese Variant coat-pattern (solid or pointed).

Is the following true for your cat?

 

 

This cat will be registered as a TONKINESE on the

Supplementary Register (CSSR).

It may be shown & bred from

Its Parents, Grandparents & Great Grandparents are only Tonkinese Variant and/or Tonkinese (on the Full, Supplementary or Experimental registers) - any one of which was born before 1997 from a back-cross mating or born before 1999 from a first-cross mating.

 >YES

This cat will be registered as a TONKINESE on the

Full Register  (CS).
