Is My Tonkinese Permitted to be Shown?

 

NO - you cannot show this Tonkinese if ANY of the following apply YES - you may show this Tonkinese if ALL of the following apply

 It is not registered or

 It is not registered as Tonkinese or

 It is not registered in your name or

 It is registered on the Reference Register  (CSREF...)

It is registered as Tonkinese on the:-

     Experimental (CSEXP...) or

     Supplementary (CSSR.....) or

     Full (CS....) register.

 and is registered in your name.

 

 Has a pointed or solid coat-pattern

 (see Tonkinese Breed Numbers for details)

It is registered as having a Tonkinese coat- pattern  (see Tonkinese Breed Numbers for details)

 Its appearance has been altered by surgery (except spaying/castrating)

 It is 14 weeks of age or older and in good health
 Has any of the 'defects' listed on the  Tonkinese Standard of Points It is suitable for showing - see below.
 Has any of the defects listed in the GCCF rules.  
 Is pregnant (or suspected of being so) or lactating  

 Is not fully up to date with Enteritis and Cat Flu inoculations

 
 Is under 14 weeks of age  
 Is not in good health - has fleas, dirty ears or eyes, has diarrhoea, is sneezing or coughing etc.

Is My Tonkinese Suitable for Showing?

 

Although a Tonkinese may be permitted to be shown it doesn't necessarily mean that it is suitable for showing.

For clear descriptions of the Tonkinese type and colours (including the Tortoiseshell and Tabby) see the Tonkinese Standard of Points.

To be suitable for showing your Tonkinese should have the following characteristics :-

  • Is of a good size for its age.

  • Has a  good temperament and tolerates handling.

  • Has good Tonkinese type (head and body shape).

  • Has a good expression of the Tonkinese coat-pattern.

  • Has a good expression of its registered coat-colour.

  • Is free of spotting or barring if adult (except Tabby & Tortie-tabby).

  • If barring is present in a kitten it must only be faint (except Tabby & Tortie-tabby)

  • Has good eye-colour if adult (blue/green)

  • Has good or clearly developing eye-colour if kitten (showing potential blue/green)

  • If Tortoiseshell or Tabby has required markings as per the Standard of Points.
