There are several professional organizations in UK working to protect the interest of the professional engineers related to different fields. In the following sections you will find some of the world famous organizations and their details.
Engineering Professor's Council (EPC)
The EPC provides a forum for senior academics responsible for engineering teaching and research in higher education. On this site you'll find information about the EPC itself and associated events, as well as a wide range of documents that have been published recently and material about discussions that the EPC have been involved in.
Royal Academy Engineering Council (RAE)
As Britain’s national academy for engineering, RAE bring together the UK’s most eminent engineers from all disciplines to promote excellence in the science, art and practice of engineering. It's strategic priorities (as they claim) are to enhance the UK’s engineering capabilities; to celebrate excellence and inspire the next generation; and to lead debate by guiding informed thinking and influencing public policy. <more information>
Visiting Professors' Scheme of RAE
This programme fosters industry–academia links and aims to help universities to teach engineering design to undergraduates in a way that relates to real professional practice. <more information>
Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IMECHE)
A Professional society which represents mechanical Engineers in the United Kingdom. Lists events, news items, research and employment. Includes members area.
Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (IEE)
A Professional society that represents Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunication, Engineers in the United Kingdom. Lists events, news items, research and employment. Includes members area.
Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is a UK-based international organisation with 80,000 members ranging from professional civil engineers to students, a fifth of whom live outside the UK in some 140 countries. If you are Civil engineer that there are plenty of job offers and even more chances of professional development. Many come UK on student visa and within 6-9 month they get work permit/employment. I personally know several of my friends who came in year 2004, 2005 and more to come in year 2006.
Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)
The Royal Institute of British Architects is one of the most influential architectural institutions in the world which has been promoting architecture and architects since being awarded its Royal Charter in 1837.Then the RIBA's remit was 'the general advancement of architecture'. Architecture.com is another organization run by RIBA.
United Kingdom
Psychiatric Pharmacy Group (UKPPG)
They claim to be the largest psychiatric
pharmacy group in the world (possibly!). UKPPG ensures the best
treatment with medicines for people with mental health needs and their
carers. This is being achieved by developing educational facilities and
accreditation for pharmacists, providing support through local and national
resources and providing a network of support for psychiatric pharmacists.
Promoting the profile of the speciality of psychiatric pharmacy is also an
essential feature of the groups work. This site is aimed at psychiatric
pharmacists to help and support them in improving pharmaceutical care for
