Studying in the UK will not only give students a thorough understanding of the subject but also analytical abilities and problem solving skills that are much prized by employers. Most scholarships are either for three years PhD degree or for one-year Masters courses, however, some are for shorter specialised courses lasting up to six months. Courses include Engineering, Information Science and Technology, law, business administration and international relations. They allow talented graduates and young professionals to become familiar with the UK and to gain skills that will benefit their countries. British Embassies and High Commissions select candidates for the scholarships, which are offered in more than 150 countries including Sindh, Pakistan, India, China and Brazil.
International students no longer need to obtain permission to work, so they can earn extra money while studying in the UK. A student can work part-time for up to 20 hours a week during term time and full-time during vacations. And if the course runs for a year or more, the student’s dependants can now work in the UK, even if they here for less than a year. In many courses, after successful completion UK home office allows full-time work permit without any objection. However, more recently things have changed significantly as people from Eastern European countries have been allowed to come UK for settlement and work. This influx has potentially reduced the chances of our overseas students to do part-time work. It is therefore advised to learn useful skilled courses to get part-time jobs. (i.e. E-ticket reservation, issuing, e-postal, e-shopping, e- e- everything!). E-ticketing from PIA (Karachi, Sindh cost you about Rs;10,000 to 20,000 for a 2-3 weeks crash course). In addition, no sooner you arrive in UK you must also apply for the SIA (security Industry Authority) licence which will enable you to get speedy part time jobs as door supervisor, security and staff. Contact sindh2uk to learn economical and legal ways to obtain this certification and licence at minimum cost.
