Australia has the third largest number of international students in the
English-speaking world behind the USA and UK. Australia is an independent
Western democracy with a population of more than 17.6 million. It is one of the
world’s most urbanised countries, with about 70 per cent of the population
living in the 10 largest cities. Most of the population is concentrated along
the eastern seaboard and the south-eastern corner of the
continent.
Studying in Australia offers international students more than
academic achievement and a globally recognised qualification. It is a
once-in-a-lifetime experience through which a student can develop independence,
maturity, an understanding of other cultures, and the ability to see issues from
different perspectives. Study in Australia better prepares a student to
work in today’s global marketplace. This is why several foreign companies
recruit directly from Australian universities and vocational institutes.
Many international organisations and companies employ overseas students with
Australian qualifications because their exposure to the outside world gives them
greater independence and maturity. With international trade barriers
disappearing, great opportunities exist for those with the skills, experience
and knowledge to seize them. In many
cases the student after completion of the master's degree gets work permit to do
full time job. After completion of two years work permit person becomes eligible
for Nationality! More details will be posted soon! In some countries
Australia is the students' first choice study destination. Australian
qualifications and institutions are recognized globally for their high quality
and excellence. Graduates from Australia are very successful in finding jobs and
hold prominent positions worldwide.
The popularity of Australia with international visitors is growing year by year. It is a land of contrasts, yet it is safe and friendly, and overseas visitors are welcomed. Accommodation ranges from international-standard hotels and convention facilities to camping parks. Australia offers sunshine and a rich variety of golden beaches, open spaces and wilderness areas, unique flora and fauna, a rugged, pioneering way of life in its sparsely settled outback regions, sophisticated entertainment and shopping facilities in its modern cities, and the full spectrum of cultural, sporting and recreational activities. Climatically, it is a country conducive to outdoor holidays. Immigrants coming to Australia have every opportunity to participate in the broader Australian community and its culture. Australian qualifications and institutions are recognized globally for their high quality and excellence. Graduates from Australia are very successful in finding jobs and hold prominent positions worldwide. Additionally, they are readily accepted for postgraduate study at leading international universities. Multicultural Australia is a safe, friendly, sophisticated and harmonious society in which students can learn and travel in an English speaking country. Australia also offers excellent value for money and a standard of living which is among the highest in the world. Living expenses and tuition costs in Australia are considerably less expensive than the UK and USA.
Simple Guide: Universities and Colleges
Graduates from Australian higher education institutions enjoy a wide range of career options, with entry to some of the most interesting and challenging jobs including working for top-tier banks, management consultancies, multinational corporations, legal firms, high tech companies and many others. Many Australian universities and higher education institutions offer returning home seminars for international students which prepare graduates to re-enter their home country and give advice on finding a job. There are a number of recruitment companies in Australia and around the world that offer careers counselling and link graduates with prospective employers. Many large corporations run their own graduate recruitment service and value graduates with international experience such as an Australian qualification.
You need a student visa if you wish to study in Australia for over 3 months. If your intended stay in Australia is 3 months or less you may apply for a short stay visa. For periods of study greater than 3 months a Student (Temporary) Visa is required by Pakistani residents and is granted only if they enrol in a registered, full-time course in Australia. All courses for international students, and the Australian education and training institutions that offer them, must be registered with the Australian Government.
To be granted a student visa you will need to:
1. complete relevant parts of the visa application form and lodge it along with
a copy of your letter of offer or Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment
supporting documentation specified in the appropriate booklet from the Temporary Entry: Overseas Students series, and
payment of the visa application charge.
2. satisfy the student visa requirements
Depending on your country of nationality and your principal course of study you may have to undergo a Pre-Visa Assessment (PVA) before an Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment is issued by your Australian education provider.
Generally, an international student is issued with a multiple entry visa for the duration of their study course in Australia. This allows you to travel backwards and forwards to Australia within the period for which it has been granted. Members of your immediate family (spouse and unmarried dependent children under 18 years of age) may accompany you to Australia and will be considered in the same visa class as yourself. If you wish to extend your stay in Australia for further study you will need to lodge an application for a further visa.
