There are almost 1000 international study programmes and courses taught in English and French. For the international programmes and courses it is absolutely essential that you can speak, read and write English as well. All type of courses are available in France like Agriculture, forestry and fishery, Arts and Humanities, Business administration and management, Communication, Education and Teacher, Training, Engineering, Environmental Science, Fine and applied arts, Law, Mathematics and computer science, Medical and health sciences, Natural sciences, Service, tourism and leisure, Social and behavioural sciences, Transport and logistics, Urban planning and architecture.
International Education in France
As many as 140,000 International students study at institutes in France every year. Its also growing in popularity among Indian & Pakistani students. Education in France can be affordable as it is subsidised by the State. It is also not necessary to know French for post-graduate study in France as subject areas like Management and engineering are increasingly being taught in English in more and more institutes.
The application Procedure
The education systems in Pakistan and France are very different. You will have to apply to universities and let them decide on the applicability of your previous academic background and experience to the course you are interested to study in. It would be useful for you to visit us or The French Information Resource Centre at the Embassy of France in Islamabad or at the Alliances Franchises in your city to get help in selection of courses and Institutes suitable for your background.
When to apply?
The academic year in France starts in September or October. Some institutions may also enrol students for spring, summer or winter semesters as well. You can ask for application forms from us or the universities or from the French Embassy in Islamabad between November 15 and January 15. The completed application forms along with all attachments must reach the university by 1st February.
How much does it cost?
Tuition Fee
Tuition fees at universities are very nominal and can vary between FF 800 to
FF 4500 per annum. At the Grandes Ecoles the fee ranges between FF 25000 to
FF 100000 per annum.
Living Expenses
Accommodation - FF 800 to FF 2500 per month
Food - FF 850 to FF 1000 at university restaurants per month
Health care - FF 2500 to FF 5000 per year
Miscellaneous (transportation and leisure) - FF 500 per month
The above costs are indicative and can vary from person to person and
between universities.
Working while studying in France
You can work for up to 20 hours a week against a permission to do so
Visa Requirements for Study in France
The following documents are required to obtain a student visa.
Make sure all documentation required is in order and complete.
Final offer letter from College (this will be issued once fees have been paid in compliance with French Government visa regulations).
Study plan. Student should present a logical study plan, e.g. Foundation Programme (Business) - Degree in Information Technology - Job in IT. Sector in home country. Visa success rates for students apply for a 2-4 year programme of studies are much higher than for students applying for Languages course only
Evidence that student can support him/herself fully without relying on state services, e.g. copy of current bank statement showing at least € 12,000 and a 'letter of good standing' from the sponsors bank.
Valid passport.
