THE WRITERS
MIKE BENYON
Mike Benyon has been writing music and lyrics since 1978. He wrote a version of "Beauty and the Beast" in the early 80's, but The Ghost of Sarah Haunting is his first full-scale musical.
Mike has been resident musical director for North London theatre group SMP for the last twelve years and has worked on many productions, ranging from pantomimes to Jesus Christ Superstar and Little Shop of Horrors. He has also arranged the music for various rock'n'roll adaptations of Shakespeare comedies. He has also played in various bands, most notably the highly successful Back II Bass'ix, playing at some of London's top venues.
The 2000 production of The Ghost of Sarah Haunting was the realisation of a long time ambition and Mike is keen to take the show further. "As primarily a song writer I have recognised that there was a need to bring in somebody to take the show to a different level. It was clear that the music and lyrics were better than the dialogue and I have been very lucky to find someone like Frank Jones, who has transformed the piece".
