SMP (Saint Monica's Players) is a theatre
company based in Southgate, North London. We have been producing
musicals, pantomimes and plays for nearly 50 years. Over the last 15
years we have become a group that specializes in exciting and
ambitious projects that are perhaps a little different from your
average local theatre group.
Our next major production will be Snow White and the
Seven Dwarfs, which takes place at the Intimate Theatre, Green
Lanes, Palmers Green, London N13 in January 2009. Tickets, priced
£10 with concessions at £8 are already available from our box
office on 020-8367-3938. Our pantomimes are always very
popular and tickets are already selling very fast! The show is being
directed by Warren McWilliams, with choreography by Fay McWilliams
and musical direction by Mike Benyon. More details will follow very
soon.

REACH
FOR A STAR
Sunday September 14th sees the fifth Reach for a Star at
the Millfield Theatre. This is a showcase of the very best
local talent, so if you are looking for the opportunity to
perform at a professional theatre then ring 07979-773829 to
book an audition. The previous four shows have seen some
extraordinarily talented individuals and groups and is a great
night out for all the family, so you are welcome to simply
book tickets to see the show. For more information of click here. |

Last week we performed Seven Brides for Seven
Brothers, the classic American musical at the Millfield Theatre
in Edmonton, London N18 from
18th-21st June 2008. This was directed and choreographed by Sue
Povey, with musical direction by Nick Lacey. Click
here for a photo gallery.
In January we performed our annual pantomime Aladdin
at the Intimate Theatre in Palmers Green from 17th-20th
January 2008. This was directed
by Dave Bowman, with choreography by Fay McWilliams and musical
direction by Julie Davies. This was a great success, with shows
played to full houses and we have received some very positive
feedback. Click here

In June 2007 we produced Back
to the 80s, directed by Warren McWilliams, with choreography by
Fay McWilliams and musical direction by Mike Benyon. This was a very
entertaining and nostalgic look back at the 1980s with lots of well
known songs from the era such as Kids in America, Footloose, I've
Had The Time Of My Life and Total Eclipse of the Heart. The show
attracted large audiences, with two (nearly three!) sell out
performances and seemed to be well received. Check out the Photo
Gallery here.
In January 2007 we performed our annual pantomime, Sleeping
Beauty, which was directed by Dave Bowman, with choreography by
Fay McWilliams and musical direction by Mike Benyon. The show was a
great success, with our highest ticket sales for a number of years
(90% of tickets sold). You can now view a Sleeping
Beauty Photo Gallery.
Thanks to Chris Bond and his friend Nick Draper, we
now have an SMP
Forum. SMP members and friends should fill in the registration
form and you can then put messages on the Forum. We have joined
the myspace community
thanks to Ben Hewis, so click here
to join in the fun!
There is an active social life at SMP and this year
saw the second weekend trip to Mickelpage in Sussex. As you can see
many people came up with great costumes on the S-M-P theme!
