A short walk to supermarket, hotels, bars, post office, restaurants, ski rental. 200M to public swimming-pool. Only 25 minutes drive from thermal spa of Les Bains de Saillon in the valley. 200M from Télécabine, and end of blue run to village; 100M from chairlift - connection to Verbier (Savoleyres, 2350M). Village altitude is 1500M.

Winter: La Tzoumaz is part of the 'Quatre Valées' ski area centered around Verbier. North-facing, it tends to maintain better snow conditions than south-facing Verbier, and has about 55Kms of pistes. It takes about an 60-80 minutes to ski/lift from La Tzoumaz via Savolyres to the upper parts of Verbier (Mont Fort, Lac des Vaux, Ruinettes etc.) bypassing the congested Médran lifts. Also, La Tzoumaz often has clear weather when Verbier is cloudy.  Veysonnaz, Thyon and Nendaz are also accessible via Verbier. Off-piste skiing is good, but a guide is recommended if you're new to the area. The whole area comprises over 400Kms of connected pistes. An excellent, multi-lingual ski-school, nursery, blue runs to within 200M of apartment. Fantastic 10Km toboggan Run (peak season only). In December 2007 an 8-Seater high-speed Télécabine replaced the old, slower 4-seater bubble and you can now get from the village to the summit in 9 minutes.

Summer: Numerous footpaths, excellent mountain bike tracks (VTT - Vélo Toute Terrain) and nature trails. The high-speed télécabine operates July 5 through August 24 in Summer 2008 and carries bikes for free. Horse-riding is usually offered in the main summer holidays. There is a swimming-pool in the télécabine building, and tennis and petanque courts for hire. A large thermal baths and pool complex is located in the nearby valley town of Saillon (link below). The ancient irrigation channels (called 'bisses' locally) provide walks with very gentle gradients, with some segments of up to 10Kms of continuous path. If you fancy a night in the mountains, you may be able to book a stay at one of the high-altitude cabins such as the Cabin du Mont Fort above Verbier.
