A FUNDRAISING campaign
has been launched to restore a locomotive which hauled
Winston Churchill’s funeral train, in time for the 50th
anniversary of his death, The British Railways locomotive
34051 Winston Churchill was chosen for the honorary trip
from Waterloo to Hanborough on January 30, 1965, and was
watched by millions of mourners worldwide. After the
locomotive bearing his name fulfilled its duty, it was
earmarked for preservation and joined the National
Collection in 1966. |
