By the generosity of Michael Benn and Associates, the South of England Group hold the remaining stocks of a series of 25 prints of the railway paintings of Mike Turner. They cover steam, diesel and electric locomotives at various sites throughout the UK. Each print is on matt, bonded fine-art paper, 310mm by 255mm (that's 12" by 10" in old money) and comes with an informative wrap-round card folder with description of the scene, the locomotives and background to the picture. They are available exclusively from the South of England Group and all of the monies raised go towards our support fund for the NRM.
The artist M A Turner, a Life Member of the FNRM, is not connected with Michael Turner, an artist who specialises in motor car and aircraft subjects, with an occasional railway picture. "Our" Michael (Mike) Turner, explains that " these paintings were commissioned back in the eighties, ... It was unfortunate that my full name was allowed to go into print at that time. My paintings are signed M A Turner." Hence the covers we are supplying with these prints do carry the name Michael Turner on the front. Mike's projects have also included a collection of paintings at the Eurotunnel Exhibition, many of which depict scenes of bygone Dover and Folkestone, the Golden Arrow, TGVs etc.
You can see low-resolution illustrations of the prints by clicking on the appropriate title or code number. Extracts from the accompanying narrative are also included. To see the full series, visit our stand at one of the sales events.
