Who are we?
The Friends of the National Railway Museum support the development of the museum and its exhibits with financial support and voluntary help with museum activities.Membership brings various benefit s including regular meetings at York and a newsletter describing activities at the museum, in-depth articles on historic railway topics and definitive reviews of railway literature. In addition there are opportunities to help with a range of support activities at the museum including providing information to visitors, assisting with conservation. The South of England Group, as its name suggests, covers those members of the FNRM who live in the southern parts of England, many of whom cannot, because of the distance, attend the museum regularly. We run a series of indoor talks, many linked to aspects of the museum's activities, and organise special visits to sites in Southern England. We regularly attend railway and transport events throughout the South with our information and sales stand. This promotes the museum and provides a source of additional income, via sales of NRM related material. The Group uses this income to support the main FNRM activities. Members in the South receive a special Briefing covering the activities of the Group.
