Support & Status

The Current Release is Version 1.0.4.4 August 2011

Windows 7 May 2010 - MRTT files with ‘Sounds’ (mp3, wav) causes a fail message “not a valid Win32 application” with Win 7 64 bit version X64 and fails to play sounds with Win7 32 bit X32. Announcer works fine. Watch this space!
                   Aug 2011 - finally solved, tested Win7 32 bit & 64 bit and WinXP

THIS IS LIKELY TO BE THE LAST MRTT RELEASE -
but see “voice corruption later!

Manual Skip Change E005 - Released Feb 2010
Whereas release 1.0.4.2 E004 does what it says on the tin, it does leave on the screen trains that have been dealt with because the parameter ‘Display Interval after Trains Depart’ is used. E005 for the Run option with manual skip treats this value as zero when determining the trains to display thus ensuring that the display shows only trains with arr/pass/dep applying at the current time.

Release 1.0.4.2, May 2008:-

E004 - during manual skip, ‘n’ now goes directly to the next of arr/dep/pass for a train item. Also, the option to send emails directly has been removed. This affects Contact and Registration options.

1.0.4.2 re-issued late June to support Windows 98/ME!

I initially developed this release using a new 2008 version of Microsoft’s programming software. Unfortunately, after I had released it as above, I found that MRTT no longer installs under Windows 98/ME - presumably because Microsoft no longer support these Operating Systems! However I do, so the downloadable files have been rebuilt using the ‘old’ software. The MRTT software is functionally unchanged, but Vista users who have installed the earlier version of release 1.0.4.2 may be unable to use the ‘Upgrade’ download for any future releases - although no further releases are planned!

Windows Voices -  There are claims on the Internet that you can add the XP voices, but although Vista ‘allows’ the update, you are still left with one solitary announcer Anna. I also regret to say that, being American, she announces ‘due’ as ‘do’ not ‘dew’!
Voice Corruption - it is also possible to get voices installed that are not really there! If one of these non-existent voices is the announcer in an imported MRTT file, my software will accept the data. However, when you run announcements using this non-existent voice, you will get an unintelligible error message!

If you think this may be your problem, test each listed announcer in the Parms option - and appoint only voices that work!

There is a Registry Hack to remove the non-existent voices - search the registry for the failed voice(s) and delete  - but don’t blame me if it goes wrong!
(added August 2011)

After further research
November 2011, nothing significant seems to have changed. Information on the Internet is at best confusing and at worst wrong. If anyone wants to do some research, my software uses Sapi 5.1 (Speech application programming interface) and the other key item is your Operating System. If anyone manages to download and install new free voices that work for XP, Vista or Win7, I would love to hear from you!
