A short chronology

1929 born. Lived in sherwood

Age 2 - 3 years
wollaton - remembers going on walks to the hall and seeing the stuffed animals with his dad. Remembers the canal . Sunday lunch. Trying the mow the lawn, the steam coming out the house

Age 4 / 5half
redcliffe road. used to walk into town passed the car showroom

Age 6ish
basford for a short time

Age 7/8
east leake rushcliffe holt on the railway line. his dad worked in ruddington in building trade

moved to ruddington about 37/38ish, north rd by the railway station / few months at costock school / got a scorlarship at 14 at southhampton

1942
moved to bunny hill. Remembers going to the cinema in Loughborough to see war films, westerns and Laurel and Hardy. It cost a tanner to get in the pictures. Thats 6 old pence which is about 2half new pence. It cost 4d on the bus for the round trip.

at southhampton trainee ship Mercury at Hamble nr souhampton. there for 2 years. remembers d day. left in july 1945 when 16.
Tough but now got fond memories. left when 16.

Went back to nottingham but his dad had bought house in Arnold. Did a bit of work down south. another move to Redmile in 46 /47 to a farm. On the farm were cows, pigs, Geese & Chickens. The winter was bad

So bought house at 75 wilford lane but in 1947/48 flogged up.
Dad was working in nottingham for his dad in building trade.

Moved to Bradmore 1948ish. Still working.

When aged 20 went to Merchant Navy. 122 ledonhall st. home of P and O shipping company. Starting travelling with Merchant Navy

He knew his dad wasn't well. His dad died in 1954 of cancer.

His mum (my granny) moved to Packman drive, Ruddington with Maurice who is still there today. Granny died in 1977.
