Joining us

"I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a Derailleur ? We are getting soft... As for me, give me a fixed gear !"

Henri Desgrange, founder of the Tour de France - on his preference for single-speed , non- freewheel bicycles

We are hoping that some particularly enthusiastic and equally mad riders/supporters will be able to join us for some stages of the Tour (but safely assume that no-one is mad enought to fancy the whole thing !).

On the itinerary page there are the details of when and where we will be riding, assuming all goes well. You are most welcome to join us and indeed a number are already signed up. Transport and accomodation should be arranged by the participants, although we can put people in touch with each other in order to share tips/accomodation etc. We also recommend that a minimum £250 sponsorship for the charity is raised by the riders.

The best stages to join us are the knee numbing - but ultimately awesome - mountain stages in the Alps or the Pyrenees, or the prologue/stage one in England when you'll be able to witness our tentative first few pedal turns into the abyss......(am I over dramatising this now ?).

Anyway, if you are interested in joining us on a stage or two, please contact one of the riders and we'll try to pass on some logistical advice. There may well be an option to rent a chalet in Tignes (around the 1st rest day) for example.

It would be great to have a peloton of riders to hide in, maybe see you in July !
