Amy's Training

Update ! Amy is back on a road bike and riding big mileages in the Tour of Ireland, Europe and Colorado

Amy is on a round the world tour which will eventually lead back to France.

Ireland

11-14/05/07 - 470 miles on the Tour of Ireland Cycle Challenge. Report here.

Australia

Amy is back on the bike which is great news. And not just any old bike ride either, but 280k's on the spectacular Great Ocean Road from Geelong to Warnambool, Australia.

Amy's review here.

Hawaii

Amy was scheduled to compete in Ironman Australia and suffered the unfortunate crash in virtually the last big effort before tapering begins.

That event is unfortunately ruled out now, but the better news is that there will be sufficient healing time before Le Tour. All the training effort won't be wasted, it will hold her in good stead for later in the year (maybe another Ironman ?). It is a tough blow for the next month, but all is not lost. Lots more opportunities to come.

Anyway, Tyler Hamilton famously won a mountain stage of the TdF with a broken collar bone, so Amy will need better excuses than this to be a DNS (Did Not Start). It might also keep her out of trouble and there now should be zero likely-hood of more bike-wrecks in the next few weeks (phew !)

Don't worry, I've checked - humour is ok at this stage apparently !

......Showing off the road-rash

IronMan training involves regular century rides, running and gym work, basically there is no the space to record everything, but believe me it's quite a lot. 'Bricks' are involved which I don't really understand beyond including running, swimming and cycling in one session.

Amy is spending most of Feb/March in Hawaii, a great place to be, even with an injury.

Training pre-crash, in her element

Arizona

Mid Feb - Amy is Arizona now....so I expect lots of dusty desert rides, maybe being chased by a tabacco chewing local sheriff and his deputies.

Or maybe I've seen too many 70's American tv shows.

.....A Cactus, Sun & Sand (and golf)

Athlete Rating 3.5/5 (back on a bike !)
