Marriages at St Mary Aldermary
St Mary Aldermary is a Guild Church and there are no Sunday services, so marriages following Banns cannot be solemnised. It is possible, however, for couples to be married here by Common Licence, provided the following conditions can be met:
1. At least one of the two has been Baptised (Christened)
2. Neither of the two has been married previously unless they have been widowed subsequently
3. At least one of the two is on the Electoral Roll of this church.
To qualify for the Electoral Roll people must attend services at St Mary Aldermary over a period of not less than six months and be able to declare their acceptance of the general tenets of the Church of England. Application for a Common Licence is a simple procedure and Fr John will give any assistance required.
