There's threesome reels, there's foursome reels,
There's hornpipes and strathspeys, man,
But the ae best dance e'er cam to the land
Was 'The Deil's awa' wi' th' Exciseman'

Robert Burns

Welcome to the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society Nottingham Branch Website...

So, who are we?
A friendly group of people of varying ages and backgrounds who meet on Wednesday evenings in the season to be taught Scottish Country Dancing and then, after a tea-break, enjoy an hour or so of social dancing.

We’ll be honest…
There’s more to it than ceilidh dancing and a lot more to it than ballroom or disco dancing… but it’s great exercise for mind and body, and, best of all, it’s fun. And if you’re into folk music, many of our dance tunes are just that, some of them centuries old. Others are brand new – there’s a repertoire of about two thousand… no, we don’t know them all!

By all means…
