COURSES:
Introductory course: This one day course is designed for those people planning to buy or hire a boat for the first time. This course aims to impart the basic skills to manage a craft safely and forms a good foundation for further learning if required. This is not an RYA recognised course but is conducted by RYA qualified instructors. Our own certificate will be issued on satisfactory completion.
The RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman Certificate: This course is normally of 2-day duration and is suitable for most people with minimal experience of boat handling on inland waterways and who seek to improve their skills and gain an internationally recognised qualification. This certificate can be the first step to the International Certificate of Competence. If using a boat on the European waterways system, all that is required in addition is the satisfactory completion of a single written multiple choice paper exam, known as the Cevni test. This can be conducted at the same time for a small additional fee.
R.Y.A Assessment Course: (Normally one-day). This course is most suitable for those students who have experience with their own craft and are required to obtain an Internationally recognised qualification. This is mainly conducted on the student's own craft at a familiar location on a one to one or two to one student to instructor ratio. This course has been found suitable for single students and partners; the inland helmsman certificate is awarded on satisfactory completion of the course.
R.Y A First aid course: This is a one-day course conducted at a local venue normally the London Canal Museum, Wharf Road, London.
