Learning with Boatmaster
All our training courses are limited to small groups, usually on a 2 or 3 to one student to instructor ratio under the direct supervision of a qualified R.Y.A instructor. All courses are practical hands on continual assessment courses (no final exam to worry you) and take place onboard a 40 or 50 foot canal narrowboat chosen and designed for ease of handling with professional theoretical learning on hand if required.Students are encouraged to learn at their own pace with experienced professional guidance available throughout the courses. One to one intensive instructional courses can be arranged at extra cost using our craft or if required using your own craft within your own environment, further details on request.
ROUTES: Our area of operation is in the heart of the London Canal system with direct access to many varied canal routes having tunnels(Islington 960Yds & Maida Hill 272 Yds), numerous canal locks, wide water areas, and narrow bridges and bends allowing for a unique opportunity for comprehensive varied training in most basic maneuvers, all within only one days enjoyable cruising.
RESOURCES: Modern canal narrowboats are available for training purposes; all our craft comply with current Boat Safety Standards, and are maintained to a high standard. All courses start and finish at the London Canal Museum for the purpose of initial introductions and land-based instruction. Courses start at 10.15 hrs sharp and finish at 1600 hrs approx.
COSTS: The costs are stated as per person inclusive of all training expenses, this includes relevant certificate on satisfactory completion of your chosen course. Meals and personal accident insurance are not included, although coffee tea and or cold drinks are supplied free of charge.
