Introduction.
It is impossible to produce an up to date list of batteries and cells because new or improved models are introduced almost on a daily basis. However physical dimensions remain the same for a given battery type as do all parameters except capacity and the following list may be of use to designers. In the case of the AA cell, it originally had a capacity of about 600 mA/h. now has a market entry capacity of 2500 mA/h and capacities as high as 3800 mA/h are being squeezed into the same case size.

Note. Silver Oxide Cells have capacities similar to standard non-rechargeable alkaline cells and the dimensions are the same. Their big advantage is that Silver Oxide cellos have an output voltage of 1.5 volts. Alkaline have a nominal voltage off load of about 1.4 volts. On load this drops to about 1.25 volts during discharge. Silver Oxide cells have a relatively flat discharge curve. |
