True Love Waits on iTunes

iodo are 5!
- 15 February
Yes, amazingly iodo have now been going for five years! and, what better way to celebrate than by giving you all some free music. By heading over to the discography page you'll be able to download the this is angst ep that was recorded at our true love waits ep launch last july. It includes live versions of tracks from previous eps and the improvised track silver fox, which is a much reworked version of intro from our first album.

And, going all out with the celebrating, we've decided to expand and have formed the iodo collective, a rotating group of like-minded Lincoln-based musicians to play a mix of pre-written and improvised music. It includes members of other notable Lincoln bands and we'll put up some details about who's involved in it soon. The plan is to get some gigs sorted for the summer, at which you can expect radical reworkings of iodo tunes split with improvised tracks. It looks like it's all going to be rather exciting.

A big thank you to everyone who's been supportive and helped in numerous ways over the last 5 years. We hope you enjoy the ep.

December update - 27 December
Hi, sorry these have been few and far between. There look like there are some exciting things brewing for the beginning of next year, including a new release!
This will be the best bits of our live recording from July. There are also some bits that could become a new EP floating around on my laptop...

Until these things materialise out of the ether, if you haven't got a copy of true love waits from this website or iTunes (click above), then now is an ideal opportunity.

Also, Friday 14th December saw the debut playing of our version of 'Once In Royal David's City' which I stitched together at the beginning of the month, you might still be able to listen to it at www.bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire using the 'listen again' feature - definitely one for the 10 year anniversary box-set...

That's more or less it as news goes at the moment, but expect a large splurge of it come January. Keep well and enjoy the holiday,

September update - 8 September
Some news for you all: I've just finished mixing the live recording from The Cell in July and some of it is pretty hot, I'll let you all know what's happening with all that when I've worked it out.

Oh, and RTA is up for download from our myspace page.

Also, we have an acoustic gig lined up on 20th September to accompany the premier of a film made by a friend of ours. The venue is 'The Moorlands Railway Club' which is just off Newark Road, almost opposite Rookary Lane. It all kicks off at 7pm. There might even be some tasty new songs that I've been working on at the moment.

Thanks to everyone who came down to the gig on Saturday, it was lots of fun. We recorded an interview for the lincolnbands.co.uk at the Metheringham Music Factory on Saturday and you can listen to it here: http://www.zshare.net/audio/3102752a25053b/ thanks to James for a really enjoyable interview. The podcast also features a competition to win a copy of the new EP, so listen in and get entering if you haven't already got a copy.

We're trying to sort out a few more gigs over the next month before Uni and we should be announcing a small acoustic show supporting a film that's been made by one of our friends, but I'll reveal more about that closer to the time.

Thank you - 26th July
Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone who turned up to our launch night last night, we really appreciate it. It was a really good evening, great atmosphere and great music. Thanks also to Lipstick Entourage and the Mark 9s for two mind-blowing sets and Nathan for the excellent sound. We sold a few EPs and soon we should have the whole paypal thing set up on the shop page so that you can buy them from the site.
Also, we have a recording of all three sets of last night's gig along with video footage of all the sets, so I'm sure there will be some sort of release over the next couple of months, we'll definitely try to sort out something special to celebrate it.

Getting hectic - 21st July
Just half a week until the EP release and things are getting a bit hectic- CDs to burned, artwork to be sorted, flyers and posters distributed etc. So not too much news to speak of as everyone is getting ready for the big gig and working like mad to get it sorted. The gig looks like it's going to be pretty good, though, with some interesting changes personnel-wise and the wonderful Dan Svarc will be joining us on stage. Nothing like last-minute working to make you feel alive...

If you're a newsletter member you will have enjoyed the non-EP track entitled 'palm-leaves in parking bays' in your inbox this week. If your not a newsletter member, you should be.

Oh, and we've set up our own facebook group, so if you are a visitor to that particular social networking site you should definitely make it look like we have loads of friends.

Looks like the So:Luxe gig in September might not be going on now, so we'll have to get something else sorted for that month.

Other stuff to look forward to this month include our Radio Lincolnshire session. When stuff has died down a bit we might even get down to recording some new stuff... We'll see.

Keep well,
d/p

More News - 2nd July
Hope you are all well. In the next week or so we will be giving away a free track to all newsletter subscribers. It's a short non-ep track entitled palm leaves in parking bays and it's made completely out of found sounds from an archive I've built up over the past year and samples from the new ep . To get it just sign up below - if you haven't already - then expect our next gift to your inbox to contain a link to something special...

NEWS!! - 21st June
Hello, finally some news! get stuck in:

The new EP is finished! We finished recording back in April having started back last June and we're in the middle of sorting out artwork and all the little things. It is entitled 'True Love Waits' and is 6 tracks long - 2 of them being standalone pieces, which many of you may recognise from last year's tour, as well as a four part conceptual song-cycle based around ideas of Christianity and Consumerism. The two standalone tracks 'Altruism' and 'Love Is Calenture' are up on our myspace for your listening pleasure. We've managed to get some great players on it contributing live drums, flutes, saxophones and extra guitars and one track even features the brilliant Dan Svarc.

The EP will get it's release at a launch party at The Cell in Lincoln on Wednesday 25th July when you will be able to hear the superb local talents of Lipstick Entourage and The Mark 9s as well as iodo playing the first airing of the new tracks with a newly augmeted line-up featuring a live drummer. This will hopefully be followed by some more gigs once we get them sorted.

I'm also gradually rejigging the website in multiple ways, so there'll be some slight changes over the coming weeks...
