SCENERY

HUCKNALL AIRFIELD EGNA

My interpretation of a local airfield produced from various aerial photos and other data. Some buildings are default fs9, the rest are modelled by me in GMax.. N.B. the concrete runway is closed - it has a large engine test tower in the middle of it !

This airfield is owned by Rolls Royce Ltd. Aero Division and houses their test facility for sound measurements on jet engines. It is the home of the Merlin Flying Club (on the other side of the field). This is where the first Merlin-fitted Mustang was tested and much later, where the experimental vertical take-off  device known as the Flying Bedstead was developed.

The default airfield as depicted in FS-9 as seen on approximately the same heading.
