Supporting the Christian voice on mainstream Midlands Media

CHAD Broadcasters

Many members of CHAD are actively involved in media activities and broadcasting!

Sandra Herbert is the award winning Religous producer for BBC Radio Leicester. As well as producing the daily "Thought for the Day" and other specialist programmes she presents the Sunday Morning Breakfast show.

Before moving to work in radio, Sandra Herbert was a geography teacher and then a full time mother. She lives on a South Leicestershire Farm, and along with her husband supports a livestock development charity in Africa.

Mervyn Roberts is a Warwickshire vicar and Communications Officer for the Diocese of Coventry, and co-presents the Sunday early morning show on BBC WM with Paul Marriott. Through the technical link with BBC WM's main studios in Birmingham, Mervyn often finds himself engaged in radio discussions which cover the whole Midlands.

A Times Preacher Of The Year finalist, he is a familiar face on regional TV and sofa debates on satellite, and is currently the Guinness World Record holder for the longest sermon at 48hrs.

Mervyn organises the team that contributes the Sunday Thoughts on Stratford's "The Bear" as well as producing thoughts for "The Bear" and "Rugby FM".

Katie Thomas set up the "Radio Cracker" RSL station in Rugby for the first time during December 1991. Almost every Christmas since, Cracker FM as it was later rebranded, has been on air, involving hundreds of local secondary school children and raising thousands of pounds for Third World charities in the process.

Katie organises the team that contributes the daily "Reflections" spots and other religious programming on 107.1 Rugby FM, as well as producing "Reflections" herself.

Lizzy McWhirter produces "Reflections" for The Bear, Rugby FM and many other radio stations around the country. Although a longtime member of the Coventry and Warwickshire association of CHAD, she lives near Oswestry!

Andrew Fewster is not currently directly involved in broadcasting, but for many years worked at Leicester Sound, a major FM commercial music radio station. Somehow Andrew's degree in astrophysics has done nothing to prevent him winning a string of awards for his innovative programme style, and he now finds himself in demand as a trainer.

Mike Autherson is technical co-ordinator for Rugby's Cracker FM having been involved since 1992. He is also part of the team producing "Reflections" on Rugby FM.
