Step 2 Systems  exists to provide solutions to businesses that have other things to do than get involved with the details of complex computer systems.  In the same way as most of us don't try to service our cars most of our clients just want to get on with their business and not have to get involved with the details of computers.

The main precept of our software has been the 'KISS!' principal.  'KISS!' stands for 'Keep it simple - stupid!'.  This has guided our approach to how much functionality we have put into our software.  We have been asked many, many times for this or that report.  When asked for a new report we don't just do it, we ask the client 'What are you going to check or what decision are you going to make after reading it?'.  If the answer is 'I don't know.' or 'None.' then we don't do it unless the client offers us a large financial incentive.  (After all we are a business too.)  This approach has led to develop software that alerts the user to conditions as they happen rather than having to wade through a report trying to find the one line that requires their attention.
