Commissions

I'm very happy to consider commissions or freelance illustration work - I do fantasy portraits, book illustrations, banners and even murals - in fact, anything you like, really! I enjoy the challenge of working with clients' ideas and can email images of the work at design stage and as it progresses.  I consult my customers at every stage of the process, so you can be sure of ending up with a piece which pleases you.  Please email me if you have an idea in mind.  If you need a commission completed for a specific date it's a good idea to get in touch a couple of months in advance, although usually it's possible to take work at shorter notice.   There are some examples of commissioned work I've done in the past further down this page.  My work has also been used on book covers and in Christian resource materials for children, and I'm currently illustrating a children's book.

This is a rough baseline price guide for commissioned work.  Commissions are very individual and some will require extra research and time and so will be more expensive.  I can also do work to other sizes - smaller, larger or in between those mentioned in the price guide.  The prices quoted apply to single original pieces only - if you want the right to reproduce the work (for example, if it's for a flyer, an illustration for a CD cover, etc.) the price will be different, depending on exactly what you need.  Postage is additional.

I'm happy to work from photographs, but the photographer will need to sign a release form (which I will send you) first.  Using a photo as the inspiration for a painting is an infringement of copyright law unless the photographer's permission has been obtained.

Purple Dragon

This banner was painted onto fabric using acrylic paints.  It measures approximately 2m by 1.25m.

CD image

I created this image for local musician Roop, for the front cover of his CD.  (It doesn't come across too clearly on screen, so I've put a detail underneath.)
