The sun was shining, a perfect day to go to London and meet the members of the CompuServe Computer Life UK forum.
I arrived in London at 2.00pm and decided to take in the sites around London Bridge and Tower Bridge.
After that, there was only one thing to do, go and meet the boys and have a few drinks .HOW MANY? OK, perhaps more than a few.
What can I tell you about the guys:
ALAN: He thought we wouldn’t recognise him, so he wore his CompuServe tee-shirt.
ALISTAIR: He’s the guy in charge of the forum. He showed us his skills on a Snowboarding arcade game, and gave lessons on growing designer stubble.
BARRY: Works in telecommunications, but seems to get lost quite easily, bit like some of his calls - that’s a private joke!
JOHN: He actually showed himself in person, last time he hid.
MARK: He’d be lost without his mobile phone, business of course, he sells computers. Wonder if he can do me a deal?
MULLER: He’s a Brummy, though you’d never tell by his accent! He has a good sense of humour and a large capacity for beer.
NICK: He recently announced his engagement, the shock has made him loose his beard!
TOM: He’s a Scotsman, but despite rumours to the contrary, did offer to buy a drink.
TOMMO: Owner of part of a horse (didn't like to ask which part) and former Army man - At least we should be safe if war’s declared.
MYSELF: Think I'll leave that to someone else to describe!
OTHERS: We met a group of German youngsters who were touring Europe. They were quite nice, perhaps because we didn’t mention the war (or sunbeds).
The next meet-up was in Manchester
