Local Economic Development Officer
Qualifications: BA Social Sciences, Glasgow Caledonian University; MSc
Urban and Regional Planning, Strathclyde University.
Recent research and publications: include contributions and joint authorship
involving various public and private sector local economic development initiatives,
evaluations of various City Challenge, community business, credit unions and
European Union funding initiatives and programmes in locations throughout the
United Kingdom. John is one of the principal members of the Centre for Economic
Development and Area Regeneration (CEDAR) within the Department, through which
he has gained an expertise in the monitoring and evaluation of a number of Priority
Partnership Area (PPA) Strategies in Scotland.
Teaching Interests: projects which examine various aspects of the statutory
planning system in the United Kingdom.
Outside interests: include football, travel and general socialising.
