In association with the Department of Geography in the Faculty of Arts and Social Studies, we offer a joint Honours degree in Geography and Planning.
This four year full-time course received its first student intake in 1991, and the first graduation took place in 1995. This course is particularly suited to students interested in applied aspects of environmental issues. Designed to offer a broad education in geography and environmental planning, this Joint Honours award offers a base following which postgraduate professional planning studies may be achieved. The annual intake is currently about 15 students.
Broadly speaking half the classes studied are offered by the Department of Environmental Planning and half by the Department of Geography. Students participate in Geography field trips and planning project work. The Honours year offers opportunity to specialise in selected classes in both disciplines.
UK and overseas candidates should apply through UCAS in the normal way - please see our Admissions information page for details of the entry requirements.
Accreditation has been approved by the Royal Town Planning Institute for this four year course together with a 12 month full-time [or 2 years part-time] postgraduate course - the MSc / Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning. Separate application and funding arrangements apply to the postgraduate course.
The Course Secretary in the Department of Environmental Planning OR Dr Graham Hollier in the Department of Geography.
