Transatlantic LF DX: Winter 2005-6

Newest info is at the top - see also recent activity log Sat/Sun 11/12 February 2006: Transmitted QRSS40 beacon overnight for transatlantic reception. Traces seen by W1VD. Mon/Tue 30/31 January 2006: Transmitted QRSS60 overnight and was partly received by W1VD. Thu/Fri 26/27 January 2006: Transmitted QRSS60 overnight for transatlantic tests, but no reports received. Mon/Tue 23/24 January 2006: Transmitted QRSS60 beacon "XDV" overnight and was received by W1VD (distance = 5433km). This is the first time I have reached the USA (previous best was VE1). Screen shot by W1VD. CT1DRP's DFCW can be seen just HF of my QRSS. Wed 11 / Thu 12 Jan 06: Monitored for VO1NA's QRSS120 beacon on 137.777kHz overnight. Although my receive system (Argo) was set to QRSS60, I received continuous signals from 2230 to 0830. VO1NA sending 'NA' 0630 to 0830. The background noise and then the signal can be seen fading as daylight affects the transatlantic path. Sun 20 Nov 05: Monitored for VO1NA's QRSS120 transmissions overnight (19/20 Nov) and received clear signals from just before 2300 to about 0800 (see below).. VO1NA's signal at dawn.
