Ordnance Insignia of the British Army

Junior Leaders /Apprentice Collage Education Star's

Little is known of this earler Education Star which was used at AAS Arborfield and Chepstow.
Other than it was a Gold coloured 6 Pointed Star with a coloured backing

Variant of EL30 4 Pointed Star - Worn as a X instead of point upwards.

Described by ex RAOC Boy Soldier Robert (Bob)Walker

There were as far as remember two educational stars (four pointed) awarded at Haslar, which would be worn to denote each qualification, Army Certificate 2nd class and Army Certificate 1st Class.
Both would be worn on the left sleeve between the cuff and elbow. Usually the two were distinguished by having a coloured patch behind each star,
Red for 1st, Black for 2nd, that is if memory serves me right.

This photograph dates from the late 50's to early 60's
and was published in a RAOC recruiting booklet.
This picture is a scan from the booklet. The star can clearly be identified as a 5 Pointed Star, but what is not clear is if it is the EL33 5 Pointed Star, which was at the time a drivers trade badge or the 'Mullet' which had just been discontinued from use as a AFV Driver/Mechanics trade badge.

or
EL33 5 Pointed Star and EL61 5 Pointed Mullet

Also in this picture is the Proficiency Badge (EL77 P in Wreath)
and Drummers Badge (EL155) which are detailed in next section.
