Ordnance Insignia of the British Army

Ordnance Corps Lanyard

Very little is known at the moment, as to when the coloured RAOC Lanyard was first introduced. But it would seem it was on the introduction of the 1960 Pattern No2 Dress.

The following pictures are of soldiers wearing rope or white lanyards in W.W.1 which I presume to be used to secure a jackknife.

It is also interesting to note that in the group picture, it is being worn around the neck! and not by everyone.

An RAOC Officer wearing a lanyard with Service Dress.
This would seem to be a coloured lanyard (Blue or Red?)
