On the 25th November 1918 the Officers and Soldiers of the Army
Ordnance Department & Army Ordnance Corps respectively
amalgamated to form
The Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC) .
The prefix ROYAL was granted to the Corps by His Majesty King
George V in recognition of work carried out during the Great War
1914 - 1918
In 1921 The Duke of York (later to become King George VI) was
appointed Colonel-in-Chief of the RAOC.
In 1952 on the death of her farther King George VI. Her Majesty,
Queen Elizabeth II became Colonel-in-Chief of the RAOC,
until its amalgamation into the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC).
On 6th April 1993 Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne (The Princess
Royal) became the Colonel-in-Chief of the newly formed RLC.
Her Majesty the Queen became Patron of the RAOC Charitable Trust
in 1993 till 2000,
when Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne (The Princess Royal) took
over as patron of the trust.
