Badge Identification Project

Part 1b - RLC Cloth & Metal Insignia Badges ~ Officers

This is not a concise list of all RLC Badges - Only illustrations of known examples.

Officers 'Bullion' Beret Badges

Prier to the badges introduction 'Prototype Badges' of all types were produced,
illustrated are the 2 variations of Officers Beret Badges proposed:

Left - Silver Star and Gold Wreath with Black 'Ordnance Devices' with Gold on Navy Blue Scroll
Right - Gold Star and Silver Wreath with Gold Cannons and Black Cannon Balls in Ordnance Arms with Black on Gold Scroll

With minor changes 'Badge B' was selected for wear.

Officers Bullion Beret Badges are produced with coloured backings to match 'Arms of Service' Beret colours:

Left - Navy Blue 'General Service'  Backing
Centre - Maroon 'Airborne Forces' Backing
Right - Green 'Commando Forces' Backing

Two further colour backings were produced:

Left - Black 'Armoured Brigade' Backing (Colour difference from Navy Blue is  not noticeable till stitched onto a Black Beret)
Right - Light Blue 'Army Air Corps' Backing (Since badge is stitched onto a Navy Blue patch this badge seems not to be used)

The differences in all of the above examples show the manufacturing variations of this type of badge.
All the illustrated 'coloured' badges were obtained from the RLC Shop, Deepcut
