Who am I?

My name is Richard Coleman, and I am a Therapeutic Counsellor. I trained for 3 ½ years in a variety of techniques and approaches, culminating in being awarded an Advanced Diploma in Counselling. . I am now a member of the BACP (the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) as well as the CCYP (Counselling for Children and Young People) sub-division, and so work with a variety of people from all walks of life, whether they are looking for the answers to life situations or simply wishing to find out more about what makes them tick.

My Approach

I work as an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor. This builds on a base grounding in the Person Centred Approach formulated by Carl Rogers, and also incorporates many aspects of both Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. I also use certain Cognitive techniques that connect together with the counselling approaches almost like a series of doors and passageways. As we open one door, a link may be made to another aspect of your current life or personal history, which may lead us into exploring new areas, and in making the connections between what you present to me and accepted counselling theory, I facilitate you towards a better understanding of yourself.
