Chapel-en-le-Frith goes to War, September 1914
This fascinating series of photographs shows the local men of Chapel-en-le-Frith leaving to join Kitchener's Armies. Many thanks to Beryl Bend and Julian Thompson for making these photographs available.

Chesterfield, 1914/15
This series of pictures show the new recruits of Kitcheners Army and the mobilisation of the local territorial Battalion in Chesterfield.
1. New recruits at Chesterfield (Midland) Station. The man next to the recruiting Sergeant is Walter Herbert from Newbold.
2. The 6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters marching down Lordsmill, August 1914.
3. The 6th Battalion marching in 1914. The location is unknown, but could they be on the way to their War Station at Derby?

4. Sherwood with a family member. Note that he has what appears to be signallers badge on his left sleeve.
